With the never ending changes that covid/Omicron brings to Ontario couples looking to get married the government has just released an update on Marriage Licences.
The Office of the Registrar General will NOT be extending the expiry date of Marriage Licences issued from January 1, 2022 onwards. Normally, you get your licence 90 days or less before your wedding date. Over the past 2 years with constantly changing covid regulations licence expiry dates were being extended.
Licences issued between December 1, 2019 and July 24, 2020 are still valid and can be used until July 24, 2022;

Licences issued between October 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 are still valid and can be used until February 10, 2023; and

Licences issued between January 1, 2021 and June 4, 2021 are still valid and can be used until June 4, 2023.

The cost to purchase a marriage licence has gone up. Quinte West/Belleville/Picton have all increased. If you have your license and are considering moving your date (yet again) perhaps you might choose to elope now and have the big celebration party later when safe to do so
Wedding Planners, please let your couples know.✅
